Khalid Mulla Conducts News Storytelling Training for Mogadishu Media

Veteran Somali journalist Khalid Mohamud Mohamed (Khalid Mulla) has delivered a practical training programme for journalists and media professionals representing different media outlets in Mogadishu.

The training introduced participants to modern approaches to news storytelling, focusing on how a journalist can turn an event, interview, or piece of information into a well-developed and engaging news story.

Khalid Mulla used his extensive experience in journalism to explain the creative and professional elements that make a news story stronger, including developing a clear storyline, selecting relevant information, building context, and presenting facts in a way that captures the audience’s attention.

A key part of the training was helping journalists understand the difference between simply reporting what happened and developing a story that gives audiences a deeper understanding of the subject.

The participating journalists also had the opportunity to discuss practical challenges they encounter in their daily work and explore techniques for improving the quality and presentation of their stories.

The training led by Khalid Mulla is part of efforts to strengthen the professional capacity of Somali journalists and encourage higher standards in news production and storytelling.
